FAQ

What is Positive Reinforcement?
Positive reinforcement focuses on using praise and attention to reward behaviors we want to reinforce instead of focusing on negative behaviors. While we do want to correct behaviors we do not want to see, “praise” will be the highest rewarding “treat” you can give!

You really don’t use treats? Why?
While treats can be used for a quick results, our goal is to change your dog’s behavior. This is more sustainable for the future and leads to long term success.

How often do you train?
Our trainers are very flexible when it comes to scheduling but like to conduct trainings once a week to every other week depending on the progress of your pup. Our staff is here to offer support through phone, email or video chat at any time should you run into issues between lessons. You will also receive detailed instructions of what to work on in between visits. Our main goal is to set you and your dog up for success and work hard to reach your training goals!

What is your experience training dogs?
After a lifetime of handling dogs and our background in behavior therapy, we formalized our training by connecting with experienced military and civilian trainers. We have since broadened our knowledge by being among the first in the country certified by NIODTA (National Instinctive Obedience Dog Trainers Association). We continue to expand our knowledge by consulting regularly and meeting several times a year with trainers all over the country.
